Olivier Hits the Money for Lloyd Memorial

Zach Olivier became a 2-time winner of the Mark Lloyd Memorial event Friday night and by the end of the night with the money raised by the Lloyd family and bonus money Olivier took home around $1700 for the victory. Olivier started in the 8th position after a revenge redraw set him in the final redraw position and made him work for the win. JJ Zebel starting the race grabbing the lead off the pole, but it wasn’t long before Billy Prouty and Colby Klaassen made it three wide off turn two with Klaassen claiming the top spot. Olivier quickly made his way into the top 3. Two laps later he found himself in position 2 and then one more lap he would make the pass on the rookie and take over the race lead at the halfway point. A caution flag with 4 laps to go would bunch up the field, but Olivier easily escaped and cruised the victory. Klaassen would settle for second ahead of Shaun Taylor coming from 15th to 3rd, Corey Yeigh, and John Hoing.
The Lems Auto Recyclers Sportmans would see a first time winner. A familiar name, but the youngest of the group as Kaden Klaassen garnered his first career win Friday night. Klaassen used his front row starting spot to take the early lead with Wyatt Steenhoven putting on the pressure pulling inside of turn four and taking the lead away on lap 3. The rookie was not rattle as he would keep working the highside and come back around to reclaim the lead on lap 7. Coming to the white flag the two were side by side with Steenhoven holding a slight edge, but out of the final turn Klaassen used the momentum of the top and grabbed the win. Brian Kroon got around Steenhoven and came home a close 2nd. 4th would go to Brandon Boeve while Neal Krull rounded out the top 5.
The Sybesma Graphics hobby stocks set a great pace throughout the race with Levi Vander Woude leading the way. The 8 car would have a comfortable lead over Tyler Schlumbohm and Dylan Fitzpatrick early in the race with Dustin Gulbrandson on the charge. After a restart Gulbrandson made his way into the top 3 and then used the bottom to grab 2nd away from Schlumbohm. Vander Woude held that comfortable lead until a caution on Lap 8 would bunch up the field, but he would once again jump out to a two car length lead and was looking to drive away with the win. Lapped traffic would create some excitement late in the race as Vander Woude bobbled trying work around them on the last lap and Gulbrandson closed in and made things interesting. Levi hung on for the lead and snag the win away from Gulbrandson. Schlumbohm would take third ahead of Eric Gaul and Tracy Halouska.
Next up was the J&L Sales and Storage Bmods with Dustin Kruse taking the lead off the pole with Dave Kennedy and Anthony Roth in chase. A caution would create a three wide battle for the lead before another caution would reset the field again. On the restart Roth shot to the inside to take 2nd heading into turn one and the lead off turn two with a slide job on Kruse. Roth would set sail on the field, while Damien VandenBerg came charging through the field from 13th and move into the number 2 spot. Roth would cross the line first, but failed post race inspection handing the win to VandenBerg. Dustin Kruse grabbed 2nd ahead of Tyler Tesch, Dereck VanVeldhuizen, and Camden Meyers.
The Precision Auto Body stock car race was another fun one to close out the night. Dustin Gulbrandson jumped out infront with Colton Arends right on his back bumper. The two would put some distance on the rest of the field. Behind the leaders was a wild pack of cars swapping spots. Arends would beat on the back bumper of Gulbrandson the majority of the race, but just couldn’t get the run he needed to challenge for the lead. Finally Arends would move up a lane and could get to the outside of Gulbrandson, but the 1 car had just enough off the bottom to hold to top spot. As the battle continued Gulbrandson would slip up the track opening the door for Arends to get underneath and that was all he needed as he took the lead away and went on to win his 2nd feature in a row.
